LinkedIn Ads: Grant Access via Campaign Manager (Legacy)
If you don't use LinkedIn Business Manager, follow these steps instead. There are two parts: giving us access to your ad account and your company page.
What you'll need
- Access to your LinkedIn ad account in Campaign Manager (you need to be an Account Manager or higher)
- Admin access to your LinkedIn company page
- Ben needs to be in your LinkedIn network (3rd-degree connection or closer)
- About 10 minutes
Who to add
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Name | Ben Hawkshaw-Burn |
| LinkedIn profile | linkedin.com/in/benhawkshawburn |
| benhb@geekytech.co.uk |
You'll need to be connected
The legacy method needs Ben to be in your LinkedIn network (1st, 2nd, or 3rd-degree connection). If he doesn't show up when you search, connect with him on LinkedIn first, then try again.
Part 1: Ad account access
Step 1: Open Campaign Manager
- Go to linkedin.com/campaignmanager and sign in.
- Click on the account name for the ad account you want us to manage.
Step 2: Go to Account Settings
- Look for Account settings in the left menu.
- Click Manage access.
Step 3: Add Ben
- Click Add user.
- In the pop-up, paste Ben's LinkedIn profile URL: https://www.linkedin.com/in/benhawkshawburn/
- Pick Ben Hawkshaw-Burn from the dropdown.
- Set the role to: Account Manager
- Click Save changes.
What can Account Manager do?
| Permission | Included? |
|---|---|
| View campaign performance | Yes |
| Create and edit campaigns | Yes |
| Create and edit ads | Yes |
| Manage user access | Yes |
| Edit account details | Yes |
| View billing history | Yes |
| Change billing/payment details | No |
Part 2: Company page access
For us to run Sponsored Content (the ads that appear in people's LinkedIn feeds), we need admin access to your company page too.
Step 4: Go to your company page settings
- Sign in to LinkedIn and go to your company page.
- Click Settings in the left menu.
- Select Manage admins.
Step 5: Add Ben as an admin
- Click the Page admins tab.
- Click Add admin.
- Search for Ben Hawkshaw-Burn.
- Pick the role: Super admin
- This gives us full access to the page and Sponsored Content.
- Prefer something more limited? Content admin works too for posting and managing content.
- Click Save.
Ben needs to follow your page
LinkedIn requires the person being added to follow your company page first. If Ben doesn't show up in the search, let your GeekyTech account manager know and we'll sort it out.
Company page roles explained
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Super admin | Full control, including managing other admins |
| Content admin | Post content, manage comments, view analytics |
| Analyst | View page analytics only |
You can also give separate Paid Media roles:
| Paid Media Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Sponsored Content Poster | Create and sponsor ads from the page |
| Lead Gen Forms Manager | Download leads from Lead Gen Forms |
| Landing Pages Manager | Create and edit landing pages |
We'd recommend Super admin for the smoothest experience. At minimum, we need Sponsored Content Poster to run feed ads.
What happens next?
Once both parts are done:
- Our PPC team can manage your LinkedIn campaigns and Sponsored Content through Ben's account.
- You're still the account owner. You can change or remove access anytime.
- We'll confirm everything's connected.
Removing access later
Ad account: Campaign Manager > your account > Account settings > Manage access > find Ben > Remove.
Company page: Your company page > Settings > Manage admins > find Ben > Remove.
